Supporting Intellectual Disabilities in Ireland
Providing the right support is key to empowering adults and children to live the life they choose. Praxis Care supports individuals with an Intellectual Disability through the provision of Residential and Day Activity service models.
We provide community based accommodation, both directly and in partnership with housing providers who have particular experience working with people whose needs may be complex and often manifest in behaviours that challenge.
We acknowledge that every person is unique and that a “one-size-fits-all’ approach is not appropriate. We also understand that living with others can be difficult for some individuals. Our accommodation models can facilitate flexibility between privacy and individual living space with the opportunity to develop peer relationships.
We actively work to involve both the person we support and their family in designing their accommodation and support mix, shaped around their individual needs. Our current provision of supported accommodation services range from the flat cluster model to more dispersed, but equally supported housing where individuals either live on their own or share with a small number of individuals with similar requirements.
Our Volunteer Team Day at Monaghan Brookvale took place earlier this month, with six volunteers from Farrans Construction spending the day transforming the sensory garden 🌼🌱
The team tidied the space, began painting the seated pergola and generously donated over 100 summer‑flowering bulbs along with wildflower seeds.
An incredible team effort!
