As part of our annual Staff Awards celebrations, we took the opportunity to speak with some of our incredible winners to learn more about their journeys, what the recognition means to them, and the impact of their work at Praxis Care.
In this edition, we’re delighted to introduce Sanjai Kumar, a dedicated Internal Auditor in Praxis Care’s Finance Department, who was honoured with the Corporate Services Colleague award.
Sanjai was awarded Corporate Services Colleague of the Year for his outstanding contributions to strengthening financial and corporate controls across Praxis Care. Known for his sharp insight and collaborative spirit, Sanjai has earned the trust of colleagues, the senior leadership team and the Board by delivering impactful improvements with professionalism and warmth.
What did it mean to you to win the award?
Winning the Corporate Service award is a great honour and a proud moment for me. It’s rewarding to have my efforts recognised and valued by the organisation. This achievement motivates me to continue delivering my best and contributing to the organisation’s success.
How did you celebrate winning?
I celebrated the achievement by going for a lovely dinner with my family. My kids were super excited and proud, which made the moment even more special.

Can you tell us about your day-to-day role in Praxis Care?
In my role at Praxis Care, I carry out audits in line with the annual audit plan. My work involves co-ordinating with internal and external stakeholders, conducing audits, and completing ad hoc tasks assigned by senior leadership. I also prepare and present audit reports to the Senior Leadership Team and the Board.
What led you to a career in the charity / care sector?
I’ve always been motivated by work that makes a positive difference in people’s lives, so I was naturally drawn to the non-profit sector. My previous experience and relevant qualifications led me to Praxis Care. The organisation has given me the opportunity to use my skills in a way that contributes to meaningful outcomes and supports the organisation’s mission.

What motivates you to keep going in your role on tough days?
What keeps me motivated on tough days is knowing that my work contributes to the mission of support and improving lives. The positive impact Praxis Care has on individuals and communities reminds me that every effort counts; and that keeps me going.
What advice would you give to someone considering a corporate role in the charity or care sector?
I would advise anyone considering a corporate role in the charity or care sector to go for it with an open mind and genuine desire to make a difference. Working in this sector is both rewarding and meaningful, you can apply your professional skills while contributing to a greater cause and seeing the real impact of your work.
