Kevin has been part of Praxis Care for 13 years, receiving support in his accommodation and becoming a well-known, hardworking member of the Conlig Day Service community. He works full-time in the gardens, five days a week, where he’s recognised for his dedication, commitment, and strong work ethic.
Living Life His Way
Kevin enjoys an active lifestyle filled with sports and hobbies. A keen footballer, he proudly represents his local Ards team. “I play football for my local team in Ards. I won a trophy this year for the most improved player,” he says with pride.
Achievements with Praxis Care
Working in the gardens at Conlig is one of Kevin’s greatest passions. He takes pride in his role and the contribution he makes, “At Conlig I like working. I’m very good with customers and I enjoy making seasonal items like hanging baskets and Christmas wreathes.”
Over the years, Kevin has become known for his dedication, always putting in his best effort. Whether he’s creating a seasonal display or tending to plants, he likes to bring fun and humour to the day, helping make the gardens a welcoming and enjoyable place for everyone.
Kevin has also taken part in the Balmoral Show, joining a group from Conlig to run their own market stand. Together, they sold planters, plants, and baked goods – all grown or made through the day service gardens. The event was a proud moment, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and skills to the wider community. Kevin thoroughly enjoyed the experience and is already looking forward to taking part again.
Looking Ahead
When asked about the future, Kevin is clear and content: “I’m happy with how things are right now and I want to stay here.” For him, working in the gardens, playing football, and sharing laughter with friends brings the right balance of pride, purpose, and joy to each day.
