Kenny has been part of the Praxis Care community for 30 years, living in supported accommodation and becoming a familiar, friendly face at Conlig Day Service. He works four days a week in the gardens, where his sense of humour and warm personality shine. “I enjoy winding up the staff and having a laugh, especially with Colin, our service manager,” he says.
Living Life His Way
Kenny lives a busy and active life, filled with things that bring him joy. He is passionate about music, especially R&B, and enjoys exploring the local community. “I usually go to Costa Coffee – it’s hard to beat a cappuccino!” he shares.
Socialising is important to Kenny, whether that’s playing pool with his local team or spending time at Conlig Day Service. “I like coming here to have a bit of craic with the guys,” he says, highlighting the friendships and fun that make the day service feel like a second home.
Achievements with Praxis Care
Kenny’s time with Praxis Care has given him opportunities to take on new roles and celebrate his achievements. Working at Conlig gardens is one of his favourite parts of the week. “I like coming to Conlig and working in the gardens. I get to meet new customers and see new faces around.”
In August 2025, Kenny proudly celebrated 30 years of attendance at Conlig Day Service, receiving an award that recognised his long-standing commitment.
Through his work, Kenny helps grow and prepare planters for sale. “Coming to Conlig makes me happy. I enjoy selling plants and would like to share with more people what we do here,” he says.
This summer, Kenny was part of a group from the Conlig service that took part in the Balmoral Show with their very own market stand. They sold planters, plants, and baked goods – all made or grown through their work in the gardens at the day service. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, showcasing their skills, creativity, and teamwork to the public. Kenny really enjoyed being part of the Show and is already looking forward to attending again next year.
Looking Ahead
Kenny is enthusiastic about the future and is always open to new opportunities. “I want to try new things – staff are here to help us with that. I would like to go on some more day trips.” Whether he’s planning his next trip, or enjoying a coffee after work, Kenny’s life is full of moments of fun and connection.
