“I love coming to Conlig to work in the gardens, and I love living in my home”
Harry has been part of the Praxis Care community for almost 30 years. Since July 1995, he’s been attending the day service at Conlig, and in 2008 he moved into supported accommodation. Today, he lives with his friends in a shared flat at Kimberley House Supported Living Service.
Finding Freedom and Independence
Living in supported accommodation has given Harry the independence and freedom he values. “I feel a lot better now compared to where I lived before,” he explains. “I’ve got freedom to do what I like. I like walking around the town, and I like doing my own shopping – I make my shopping list and sometimes go with staff to get my groceries.”
Each week, Harry gets the bus into Conlig to attend the day service – something he looks forward to. “I enjoy travelling on the bus, and when I get there I like socialising and learning about the gardens,” he says. “It’s a good place to be.”

Achievements with Praxis Care
“I enjoy music – especially heavy metal,” he says with a grin. “I do a bit of karaoke on a Friday night – a bit of Elvis. I also enjoy fishing and playing pool.”
Pool is one of Harry’s biggest passions, and it’s taken him far – literally. “I’m proud of my pool,” he says. “I’ve got to travel to different places playing – like over to England and up to Coleraine. We won our pool competition last year and I’ve got the plaque in my room. We came second this year. I enjoy getting to wear the pool kit with my team.”
This summer, Harry was part of a group from the Conlig service that took part in the Balmoral Show with their very own market stand. They sold planters, plants, and baked goods – all made or grown through their work in the gardens at the day service. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, showcasing their skills, creativity, and teamwork to the public. Harry really enjoyed being part of the Show and is already looking forward to attending again next year.

Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, Harry is excited about what’s next – especially a holiday planned with friends. “I’m turning 60 in October and we’re going to Donegal for it,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to it. We’re also planning more trips for the future.”
When asked what he’d like people to know about him, and others who use services like Praxis Care, Harry is clear: “I love coming to Conlig to work in the gardens,” he says. “And I love living in my home.”
