Praxis Care, QUB and Mencap NI present ‘Perspectives on Co-Production’ at HSC Conference

Joint Research Study Project

The Supported Decision Making project was recently presented at the Health and Social Care Board’s Social Work and Social Care Conference at the Belfast Castle.

The Project was a joint research study between Praxis Care, Mencap NI and Queen’s University of Belfast, and included four peer researchers as a core part of the team.

The Project was funded and supported by Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning (DRILL) and explored the experiences of people with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities in making decisions. It also asked people about their experiences of support for making decisions and their ideas for what might help them and others in the future.

The findings of this project have been used to inform how the Mental Capacity Act (NI) 2016 should be implemented.

Highlights of the presentation can be viewed here.
