Praxis Care Named Employer Of The Year

And The Winner Is…

Belfast’s Hilton Hotel was the site of the Northern Ireland edition of the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards 2023 on the 9th of March. At the ceremony the judges named Praxis Care as Employer of The Year.

The judging panel explained their choice, stating “Praxis’ use of innovations is impressive. They use apps and technology to reduce pressures on a large and busy workforce, giving employees access to learning and information that supports their development, health, and wellbeing at the touch of a button!

“Praxis is making a commitment to support their staff at every level from the front line to the board room.”

We employ 2,000 people across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man and England. This makes us the island of Ireland’s largest charity provider of care for adults and children affected by mental ill health, learning disability, autism, and dementia.

Praxis Care Benefits

In 2022, we introduced a benefits package for all employees. Praised and endorsed by the GMB Union, the package introduced a series of measures to support the organisation’s health and wellbeing strategy. As well, it looks to support employees with their physical, mental, financial, and social health.

As part of this package, we introduced a wide-ranging series of professional training programmes and qualifications for all grades. The package also includes a death in service benefit at double the salary, as well as a doubling of the cycle to work scheme from £500 to £1,000. There is a fully funded health care programme, allowing employees quick access to diagnostic tests, treatments, and complimentary therapies. We have also arranged free memberships for all staff to the popular mindfulness and wellbeing app, Calm.

Innovative New Rota System

We also recently partnered with Rota-management app Sona to boost flexible working and overtime opportunities. Created for the social care sector and designed for frontline staff, Sona lets employees access vital functions with a tap. Functions include real-time schedule views, schedule change notifications, overtime shift alerts, instant messaging and feedback. This means our staff have more flexibility to decide when and where they want to work. Sona gives them opportunities to pick up shifts in services where they don’t usually work.

Our Staff Shortlisted

In addition to winning Employer of the Year, our staff were shortlisted for 10 other National Learning Disability and Autism Awards. Outgoing CEO Andy Mayhew was shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution Award.
