The Celebrating Success Awards debuts on the Isle of Man
Praxis Care has celebrated the achievements of individuals under our care, highlighting the powerful journeys of resilience, personal development, and community engagement.
The Celebrating Success Awards, first launched by the organisation in 2012 across other service regions, was held in the Isle of Man for the first time. This inaugural ceremony marks a significant milestone, with 22 nominated individuals being recognised for their personal accomplishments over the past year. Nominees were put forward by those who know them best including their support staff from Praxis Care.
The awards ceremony took place on Thursday 9 July at the Ramsey Park Hotel, bringing together more than 100 nominees, family, friends and dedicated support workers to share inspiring stories, connect and celebrate these achievements. Held during Disability Pride Month, the event was especially meaningful as it highlighted the voices, talents and contributions of those supported by Praxis Care, reinforcing community pride and the importance of inclusion and recognition for those with complex needs.

The awards shine a light on remarkable personal achievements and progress individuals have made in their lives. Attendees heard inspiring stories from all the finalists, including Louise Bentham, a two-time first prize winner. Through determination and personal growth, Louise has become a positive influence within her community while building her own independence and confidence. After making the life-changing decision to quit smoking, Louise has embraced new experiences that once felt out of reach. From broadening her restricted diet to developing new skills in cooking and baking, she continues to demonstrate great commitment and self-belief.
Grainne Close, Director of Care & Development NI & Isle of Man, who presented the awards on the day, commented: “This is an opportunity to truly listen and recognise the people we support. There are so many stories of courage, resilience, and hope. Despite the challenges faced by each of the nominees, they continue to mark personal milestones with determination and heart. It is a privilege to celebrate this progress with them”
