Praxis Care Appoints New Director For Ireland

Amanda Gray has been appointed to the role of Praxis Care’s Director of Care and Development for Ireland. Formerly the charity’s Regional Director for the south and west of Ireland, she is replacing Carol Breen.

Carol was appointed to the role of CEO for Praxis Care’s overall operation in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and Great Britain. Both appointments took effect 1st April 2023.

Ms Gray Delighted To Take On New Role

Amanda Gray

“I’ve been working in social care for nearly 20 years. Some of my most formative work was in the Health Service Executive, working on ‘Time to Move on from Congregated Settings’ projects that took people with disabilities out of institutions. Praxis Care’s mission to support people to live in communities rather than hospitals or other institutionalised settings, regardless of the complexity of need, is one of the reasons I joined the charity in 2018.

“I am very grateful to Carol Breen, who has been a mentor and friend over the last five years. She leaves big shoes to fill, but I know with her leadership as CEO, we can continue to deliver high quality services across Ireland. In Ireland, the charity supports 400 adults and children with mental ill health, intellectual disabilities and autism, employing over 700 staff and with a turnover of €33 m.

I’m confident with the team we have in place that we can continue her legacy of developing, growing and maintaining services which are truly person-centred and make a difference in people’s lives,” she said.

CEO Carol Breen Welcomes New Director

Carol Breen, who took over from retiring CEO Andy Mayhew, said: “Working with Amanda and watching her develop into the leader she is today has been such a privilege.

“The staff and people we support in Ireland are in good hands. She is knowledgeable, passionate and more than capable of taking our services even further. I welcome her onto the senior leadership team and look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”
