Kaleidoscope is a specialist day service in Leicester for young adults aged 18 and over with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). We provide a safe, nurturing environment where individuals with complex needs can connect, express themselves, and thrive. Many of the people we support use wheelchairs or other mobility aids, may be non-verbal, and often live with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, or complex health conditions. Our highly trained team delivers person-centred care that respects dignity, preferences, and each individual’s unique way of engaging with the world.
What a typical day looks like
Each day at Kaleidoscope offers opportunities for creativity, skill-building, and joy. Activities range from sensory exploration and therapeutic arts to gentle movement and community experiences. Every programme is carefully adapted to the individual, ensuring that everyone can take part in meaningful ways, develop confidence, and build social connections.
Facilities & support
Our modern, fully accessible building – just south of Leicester City Centre = has been designed with comfort and inclusion in mind. Families benefit from private parking and easy access, while attendees enjoy spacious wheelchair-friendly interiors, a therapy room with a relaxing water bed, and a sensory room equipped for both stimulation and calm. Our staff are trained to meet a wide spectrum of healthcare needs, providing safe medication support, personalised care plans, and regular input from visiting therapists such as physiotherapists, speech and language specialists, and occupational therapists.
Community & impact
Beyond our walls, we actively build connections with the wider community through outings, collaborative projects, and local partnerships. This focus on inclusion helps break down barriers and celebrates diversity. Kaleidoscope is more than a day service – it’s a vibrant community where young adults with PMLD can flourish, families feel supported, and every achievement is celebrated.
