Service description –
Praxis Care’s services across England are providing safe, innovative and bespoke packages of care for some of the community’s most vulnerable people. Our staff teams are well trained, dedicated and compassionate. Our goal – to make a positive, meaningful and sustainable difference to the lives of every person that we engage with.

The Melton and Glenfield Projects are co-located in Glenfield, Leicester. We provide high quality overnight short breaks for young people with severe learning disabilities and associated complex physical and behavioural care needs. Young people are supported with all aspects of care and social skills in an inclusive environment where engagement and activities to stimulate learning and relaxation are encouraged. We strive to make a positive, meaningful and lasting difference in people’s lives by creating opportunities and collaborating with other agencies to promote the best possible outcomes for each young person we engage with.

Both services are open to young people between 6 and 18 years of age. Each service can accommodate a maximum of 4 young people at any one time. We are specialist, experienced, compassionate and safe.

The services are operational 7 nights per week, providing tailored care and accommodation for approximately 55 young people. Provision is based on the specific needs of each of the young people supported. A minimum ratio of 3 staff members to 4 children /young people is maintained during daytime hours and waking night staff will be available through each night.

The Glenfield Project is housed in large bungalow, well set back from the road but close to the centre of Glenfield village. The bungalow has four well-proportioned bedrooms, a fully equipped sensory bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and a separate shower room, a large lounge, open plan dining area and a large kitchen. Ceiling track hoists are fitted throughout the building to enable safe moving and handling if needed. All of the service’s beds have electric profiling systems for comfort. The building and garden are safe, secure fully disabled accessible and vibrant! The Project owns an adapted minibus to enable the young people to access the local community and travel away from the project on day-trips, local visits and events.
The Melton Project is immediately adjacent in a purpose built two storey building. The first floor provides offices and meeting rooms and the children/young peoples’ provision is housed on the ground floor. There are four bedrooms, all with large en-suite facilities, an additional bathroom with jacuzzi bath, kitchen, dining room, lounge and activity area as well as a bright and vibrant garden with trampoline, swing and summer house. The service is well equipped to provide activities both indoors and outdoors as well as having access to a minibus for trips into the local community and beyond.
There is a large car park serving both settings. The project is bounded by mature trees, is quiet but well connected to local and regional amenities.
