From inflatable axe throwing and outdoor workouts to ice cream carts and therapy animals, Praxis Care turned everyday activities into moments of joy during its Celebrating Success week in late July.
Held across multiple services on the Isle of Man, the weeklong series of events honoured the personal growth of the people Praxis Care supports, alongside the families and dedicated staff who journey with them every day.
“These celebrations aren’t just about fun, they’re about recognising resilience, joy, and community,” said Shirley-Anne Hyslop, Regional Director of Care and Development for Praxis Care, Isle of Man. “For many people we support, these gatherings mark significant milestones in confidence, connection, and independence.”

Each service designed its celebration around the interests and comfort levels of the individuals it supports, ensuring accessibility, choice, and plenty of personal touches. Whether quiet museum visits or energetic garden parties, every event reflected the charity’s core values of dignity, inclusion, and person-centred care.
Highlights from the Week:
- Thie Quinney (Monday, 28 July)
A lively garden BBQ brought together families, staff, and the people supported by the service for an afternoon of food, music, and games.
- Glenroyd & Ingledene (Tuesday, 29 July)
Guests enjoyed a garden party with catered food and a visit from Tiny Feet therapy animals. Emotional moments were shared between families and staff as everyone reflected on recent personal progress.
- Clifton Terrace & Ramsey Bespoke (Wednesday, 30 July)
Attendees enjoyed a quieter outing to Falcon Glen and the Manx Museum, followed by a classic chippy tea – creating space for calm reflection and connection.
- Balleysleih, Peel (Thursday, 31 July)
