The team at Costa Coffee has been honoured with a Praxis Care Community Champion Award, recognising their commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for people supported in the local community.
The award celebrates the store’s outstanding support for young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities through its ongoing connection with Praxis Care’s Strangford Supported Living Services.
For Kenny, who is supported by Praxis Care, a daily visit to Costa Newtownards has become an important part of his routine. He nominated the team for the award, sharing:
“I go to Costa every day, the staff are so welcoming and know me by name. They laugh and joke with me and make me feel happy to be out in the community.”
Kenny’s experience reflects the positive and inclusive atmosphere created by the Costa team, where small, everyday interactions help build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
Georgia Girvan-Shaw, Support Worker at Praxis Care, said: “Costa have a genuine and positive impact on the people we support – especially Kenny. From the moment he walks through the door, Kenny is made to feel like a valued part of the community. The team at Costa take time to chat with him, share a laugh, and create a warm, welcoming environment where he feels comfortable and included.”
