Praxis Care Head of Operations Darran McQuoid shortlisted for Spirit of Sport Award

Darran is Head of Operations in NI North Down and Ards at Praxis Care and has been becoming increasingly concerned for the mental health issues that young people are facing in his area.

He has been recruiting a team of 20 volunteers for the past eight years to qualify for IFA coaching. Darran established six amazing football clubs to which young people can belong with about 200 individuals. Even when the Covid 19 regulation arose, he was able to find funding for a 10-week online training session for children. He also kept his coaches busy by organising them to deliver food parcels to vulnerable people in the area. One of the many children that has been positively effected by Darran’s work said;

“He is always, always happy, enthusiastic and has lots of energy, he always says, ‘Well done Holly,’ and gives me the thumbs up and smiles all of the time. He is always there helping everyone, even helping to tie their football laces.”

Darran’s nomination for this award only highlights the incredible work carried out by him. This is such an excellent achievement for one of our best members of staff.
