Twenty people, supported by Praxis Care, came under the spotlight at the organisation’s first ever Celebrating Success Awards in England.

The Praxis Care Celebrating Success Awards Ceremony demonstrates the growth of our organisation from its 40-year-old roots in Northern Ireland.

Held at Coventry’s Heart of England Events and Conference Centre, the event was for people supported by Praxis Care in England and the Isle of Man. Praxis Care board member Jason Rance hosted. Its purpose was to acknowledge the nominees’ exceptional efforts over the past 12 months.

Five Award Categories

Leicestershire: Finalists Isobel Hall and Jake Pearson

To open the event, the audience of some 70 finalists, family members and staff enjoyed a DJ set performed by Alan Blocksidge. Alan is the winner of the Talent of the Year award, and is a resident at Kidderminster’s Coombe House.

The Celebrating Success scheme recognised 20 people nominated for an award in one of five categories:

  • The Co-Production Award
  • Health and Wellbeing Award
  • Community Involvement Award
  • Talent of the Year Award
  • Person of the Year Award
Andy Mayhew, Praxis Care CEO

Praxis Care chief executive Andy Mayhew reminded the nominees that their achievements have an impact beyond their own lives.

“Making improvements in life is difficult,” said Mr. Mayhew, “To learn new skills and to do new things benefits both you and the people around you.

“Staff are encouraged, families are proud, and you impact people around you by your example.”

Award Winners

Our first year’s award winners include a young woman fighting for justice in her community while also taking strides in her career and working on mental health recovery.

Another is a young man that contributes as a researcher: he shares his knowledge and experience of accessing social care support.

In their own unique ways, whether by bringing joy to their service each day, or by volunteering at a local food shelter, the nominees each improved their own lives and those of the world at large over the last year.

Birmingham: Team Leader Carl Pringle, Finalist Lisa Barker, Team Leader Georgia Brown, and Support Worker Isatou Colley
Warwickshire Supported Living: Finalist James Geddes, Team Leader Paul Tibbetts, Manager Alex Blyth

Richard Broughton, Director of Care and Development for Great Britain and the Isle of Man, said he is proud of the work that the nominees put in to gain this recognition.

He is looking forward to this event being an annual celebration in the England and the Isle of Man region.
