BBC Features Praxis Care For Focus On Charity

Praxis Care selected for BBC Appeal 27 & 28 November

Praxis Care is to feature prominently as the BBC’s chosen charity this weekend. The broadcaster will communicate the work Praxis Care conducts in 18 towns and cities across Northern Ireland supporting children and adults with learning disabilities, mental ill health, autism and dementia.

Short programmes about the social care provider will appear on BBC Radio Ulster and Radio Foyle, as well as online through the BBC website. The programmes are intended to help recruit more staff and volunteers by showcasing some of the fantastic work being done and progress made by the people Praxis supports.

Praxis Care CEO Andy Mayhew says he is delighted the organisation has been chosen this month as the BBC’s featured charity.

“We are grateful to the BBC for giving their audience a taste of what we do every day in interviews with people we support and our staff,” says Mr Mayhew, “I think people will be touched especially to hear from Chaise who has worked hard alongside Praxis staff at our Foyle Young People service to make great progress in his life.”

On the BBC website, there is also a video of Praxis Care’s Conlig Day Service which features a garden centre that supports adults with learning disabilities to gain vocational skills, interact with the community and spend quality time outdoors.

The Radio Ulster and Foyle broadcasts featuring Praxis Care will appear on Sunday November 27th at 09.55 and will be repeated on Monday November 28th at 14.55.

The broadcast and video can be viewed on the BBC website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/northernireland/appeals/radio/praxis
